Boosting brand loyalty through play
Sea Monster designed a gamified shopping experience to make brand loyalty more engaging for Pick n Pay.
Smart Hopper is a gamified experience within Pick n Pay's existing app to elevate its loyalty program and make it more enticing for customers to win Smart Shopper Points and qualify for benefits and discount vouchers.
Build a game to engage customers and drive the smart shopper loyalty programme.
Pick n Pay launched their Smart Shopper app to digitise their loyalty program however they struggled to drive engagement and to encourage customers to redeem their accumulated loyalty points fast enough, leaving Pick n Pay with a contingent liability.
To tackle this challenge they sought to incorporate a fun and entertaining element to their PnP app. It was key that the solution had to make customers excited about the brand and simple enough for all users to engage with.
Bounce, collect, score and claim.
We designed a classic arcade style game, reminiscent of popular tower climbing games, that centres around a shopping basket which users control to jump up onto product shelves to collect as many items as possible, with the aim of reaching Tilly, the checkout, at the very top level.
The game can be played daily so regular players can accumulate up to seven vouchers per week. A reward is received for each new level unlocked, resetting every Monday for customers to earn more rewards.Launched during the Christmas holidays, the game was themed to the festive season before reverting to reflect Smart Shopper's striking blue and yellow colour scheme.
